Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission works hard on promoting and enveloping the treasures of Putnam County.  Operating on the philosophy that wholesome recreation is an essential part of life for the individual and community, the Commission strives to offer an environment where the social, mental, and physical well-being of residents and visitors are enhanced.  The Commission believes recreation is for all people.   Always mindful of the public trust the commission has been given, it's promotions and facilities are of the highest quality and is administered in an atmosphere of fairness based on sound practices and procedures.

Yuletide in the Park - you are invited to attend the 4th Annual "Yuletide in the Park" being held at  Valley Park, Route 34, Hurricane, WV -- November 30  through December 30, 2006.

Waves of Fun Water Park features West Virginia's newest and most thrilling waterslide complex.   Tubes are available for rental.

The Wave Pool's newest addition to the park is their Large Shelter (50x80) which will seat up to 200 people furnished with full kitchen and restrooms. $200 a day up to 100 people and $300 for over 100 people. There is a $500 Key damage deposit. Must pick up the key and drop off the deposit the working day prior to the event at the park office. You may stop by the office to pick up your check the next working day if no sign of damage.

Both the County Park Pool and Waves of Fun Water Park are operated from Memorial Day to Labor Day, 7 days a week. Admission prices are set annually and season tickets are available.  Swimming lessons and water aerobics are held at each pool.  Pools may be reserved for parties after general operating hours.

Hurricane Valley Community Center is located in Valley Park.  The Center is complete with kitchen facilities, 24 round tables that will seat 8-10 comfortably, 225 cushioned chairs, lighting that can be dimmed to create a mood for any occasion.

PCPRC also organizes the county-wide qualifying meet for the Hershey's National Track & Field Youth program.   This grass roots program introduces the fundamentals of track and field and emphasizes friendship, sportsmanship, and the physical exercise aspects as well as competition.  The Commission also organizes Soccer Camp Valley Park and Karate and Line Dancing Classes.
